Happy 70th, John

Some of the best use of overlays (or double exposure or whatever) this side of Kenneth Anger, if you ask me.

This live version of "Cold Turkey" is great, as is the whole Plastic Ono Band Live Jam disc, which I think exists as its own album but which I have as the second disc of Sometime in New York City.

I'm very unreasonable about John and Yoko. If you say anything mean about either of them, I will hate you. You can go ahead and think mean things about them if you want, but keep 'em to your damn self.

Oh man, of all Lennon songs for you to post, Cold Turkey.

I remember years ago, a buddy of mine who's big into the various Beatle manifestations played me the live track from Toronto and I chuckled 'cause he *always* bagged me for the gutteral stuff often found in my metal, as if Yoko's vocal wasn't equally dissonant. :)

Hah, that is funny. Sometimes Yoko's more metal than metal.

I'm always coming to Yoko's defense. I'm no huge fan or anything (though I like plenty of her stuff), but goddamn I hate the general attitude towards her.

Seriously. I always want to smack people and say "You know she was singing Carnegie Hall when John was fucking around in Hamburg, right?"

I am, however, a huge fan. The feeling I got when first listening to her Plastic Ono Band will stay with me forever.
