Spotted on the bus this morning

Are they really teaching high school kids The Fountainhead these days?

I've seen Atlas Shrugged on high school reading lists around here (Phoenix, AZ). I wouldn't be surprised if other Rand books made it around too. So sad... High school and early college are when kids are at their most susceptible to Rand's ideology.

Oh god, Atlas Shrugged too?

And yeah, the timing of it is what bugs me. In general high school kids will hate whatever book you plop down in front of them (I know I did, and I like to read), but when they find out that the book justifies and glorifies their worst instincts, they could easily fall in love for life.
