My new working definition of classical music

The genre in which works with known composers can be performed by people other than those composers, and no one will ever complain about it.

    Would you then include jazz standards in your definition?

    Believe it or not, I've heard people complain of (for example) Billie Holiday, "But she didn't write most of those songs!"
